Frequently asked questions

Divide the marks obtained by the total marks and multiply by 100. Scoring 425 out of 500 is 425 ÷ 500 × 100 = 85%.

Add the marks obtained across all subjects and divide by the combined total marks. Enter those two totals to get the overall percentage.

It is simply the total marks minus the marks you obtained — the points that were not scored.

Only if you include bonus marks that exceed the stated total. Normally the obtained marks are at most the total, giving up to 100%.

The Percentage Grade Calculator uses the formula: Percentage = Marks obtained ÷ Total marks × 100. For example, with marks obtained of 425 and total marks of 500, the percentage is 85.00%.

Enter the marks obtained. Enter the total marks. Read off your percentage, together with marks lost — the calculator updates automatically, with no button to press.
